My Story

Loss and stressful events are, in my view, natural phenomena that are part of life. However, in our busy society we have little time, space and support to recover from them. Sometimes you may feel stuck in your grieving process, or you may be confronted with a social taboo around grief. Or sometimes you may have accumulated stress without realizing it, until you suddenly notice signs of tension, or unhelpful stress reactions in certain situations.

When that happens, it can be helpful to be supported through a difficult period. It is my intention to create a space where your experience of loss and/or stress is welcome, and to normalize grief and stress recovery.

During grief counseling you will receive the space to find words for your loss and to be accompanied in your journey through the often rough grief landscape. In my view, loss is very broad; the death of a loved one (person or animal), a friendship that's changing, moving to a new home, health issues, a dream falling apart, experiencing unfulfilled needs, feeling disconnected from parts of yourself, … I believe in the human capacity to grieve in a way that integrates both love and loss into our life. Grief offers us as humans the possibility to take a new approach to life, where sorrow, as well as joy & gratitude can have their rightful place.

During stress counseling, you will be accompanied through a stress recovery process; you'll have the chance to gain insight into your stress reactions and to discover how you can learn to release tension in a practical and sustainable way. I believe in the natural capacity of the body to release deep tension. Through the body you can regain access to this release mechanism, and learn to regulate it.

Safety and attunement are important aspects of my approach. My method is both body oriented and verbal. I use different tools, tailored to you: deep listening, TRE® (Tension Releasing Exercises), heart coherence, ritual, creative exercises, polyvagal exercises, …
