The skeleton of my mind
With the exhibition 'The Skeleton of My Mind', Inge Snijders tries to let the viewer enter the minds of those who are affected by Alzheimer's disease.
The persons are depicted in isolation, some seeming to look at the viewer's gaze, while others sink into black. The portraits are supplemented by texts; poems, dialogues or monologues. These texts were created by interviewing the person portrayed and their caregivers.
By means of photography, dialogues and monologues we try to enter the minds of those who are confronted with dementia.
Themes such as personality change, social workers, loneliness, depression, the role of family and the power of music will be discussed.
